ABC began as the Australian Bearings Corporation, and we remain the only large diameter bearing manufacturer in Australia. Large diameter slew bearings are still a department in their own right, backed by an exclusive and enduring Worldwide Slew Bearing Alliance with BMTWBM.
Over the past 20 years the company, through its ingenuity and its commitment to research and development programs, has developed into a major supplier of a wide range of services to the mining, sugar and agriculture industries. It stayed locally owned and operated the whole way, run by the Smith family from Paget in Mackay.
The work broadened well past bearings. Steel fabrication and specialised welding, induction hardening and heat treatment, machining, fitting, industrial painting and engineering each became a department of its own, and every one of them sits in the same complex.

Through its own ingenuity and a standing commitment to research and development, the company grew into a major supplier of a wide range of services to the mining, sugar and agriculture industries, in Australia and overseas, while staying locally owned and operated.
SEVEN DEPARTMENTS, ONE COMPLEX
Seven departments now work inside one integrated 9,000 m² complex at Paget, with 30,000 m² of hardstand alongside it. A component can be stripped, measured, repaired, hardened, machined, painted and dispatched without leaving the site.

LOCALLY OWNED
ABC is owned and operated in Mackay by the Smith family. Rick Smith and Paul Smith are the directors and Leon Dodd is the General Manager, and all three are contactable directly.
STILL MAKING BEARINGS
We are the only large diameter bearing manufacturer in Australia. The Worldwide Slew Bearing Alliance with BMTWBM is exclusive and enduring, and it covers the design of new bearings as well as the refurbishment and, where appropriate, the re engineering of existing OEM bearings.
EVERYTHING UNDER ONE ROOF
Seven departments share a single fully integrated complex, so a job moves between fabrication, machining, hardening, fitting and painting without being trucked between suppliers.
